The Welsh flag has been flying high at this year's French Junior Open. With 13 players and two coaches , a chaperone and some parents it has been a successful event for us. We have had 6 quarter finalists, four semi finalists and three finalists.
In the Final of the Under13 Girls event Ciara Richards came through four very close games to win the match 3 – 1, 11/9 in the fourth game, well done to Ciara and the team. Ciara is only the third Welsh winner of the French Junior Open, all three coming in the girls Under13 with Elin Harlow in 2011 and Natalie Pritchard in 2003.
In the Final of the Under17 girls between team mates Jenny Haley and Elin Harlow it went down to the wire, Elin made the quicker start and took the first two games in 15 minutes. Jenny came back fighting in the third and took an early lead and then the game, in to the fourth game and Jenny was again on top winning it 11/8; we were in to a fifth and final game. Points were shared all the way to 8 – 8 in the fifth, eventually Elin taking the final 3 points and the match 3-2 11/4 11/7 6/11 8/11 11/8.
