FIRST REFEREE COURSE OF 2012/2013

The Club Referees course on the 06 Oct 12 was very well attended, with 27 people turning up on the Saturday afternoon in the Sport Wales National Centre. There was quite a spread of experience and talent on the course which was made up of squad players who were gaining experience, coaches completing their refereeing element of the UKCC Qualification and Club players who were trying to gain the referees qualification.

All the potential Referees were asked at the beginning of the course, what they would like to achieve from the day and it was very encouraging to read some of the responses. Most of them wanted to learn more about the rules, the responsibilities, and to improve their abilities to become a better Referee. It was also clear that the knowledge in the room was of a decent level and even the younger course students had a sound knowledge which allowed some great feedback and interaction from all those on the course. In particular I was impressed with the knowledge of some of the younger students who came shinning through from the beginning of the course.
